Remembrance Service 2020
Update 2nd November 2020
I have been hoping we didnt have to do this but….
The memorial service on 12th November 2020 cannot be held, and this is what we are doing.
The church will be open from 10am until 5pm You can attend at Immaculate Conception in order to say a prayer and light a candle. During each hour (11am, 12am, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm) the names of our parishioners and friends who have died in the last twelve months will be read out. In addition we will read out a portion of the names of people we have been asked to pray for.
The main purpose of the service will have been carried out. On the same day all the names will be published on WhatsApp and placed onto the Website.. – Malcolm
Update 17th October 2020
Remembrance Mass – Thursday 12th November will be split into two parts.
Firstly, the church will be open between 3-5 PM to attend, light a candle and say a prayer. This will obviously need to be completed with respect, whilst being mindful of current Covid social distancing restrictions.
During this time the names of all those requested will be read out, in remembrance.
Secondly, a Mass will be held at 7pm. This will be in remembrance of our Parishioners and friends who have died in the last year and their names will be read out during this time
Until we know how many relatives are coming we cannot open the mass to others. We would have liked to let everyone attend but this is not possible.
We will also be using last years list of people to be prayed for. If you have any additions please let us know by telling Malcolm, Tina, Kath, Moira or Tony Dodsworth.
I can be contacted on 07960351922 and my e-mail is malcolmwheldon665@btinternet.com
The closing date for this is 1st November
Please help and let us remember our parishioners as we should.
Posted 7th October 2020:
We have every intention of holding our remembrance service on the 12th November this year.
It will obviously, have to be different to previous years with the restrictions placed on us. We will already have a list of all deaths in the parish in the last year and these families will be prioritised to attend the mass.
I am using the list from last year for all people that we were asked to pray for. We will add to this list any further names requested. Names as usual to Malcolm, Tina, Tony, Kath and Moira. Please do NOT tell us of any requested last year they will be included automatically.
We will also have the full list of parishioners anniversaries that are usually kept in Our Lady’s Altar.
There are many ideas as to how we can do this year’s commemoration. We can have the mass at 7 pm for the deceased this year where the list of deaths can be readout. We could also have a period during the day when the church could be opened (subject to getting our excellent stewards to help) and when we could read out all the names on our 2nd list of people we have been asked to pray for it is envisaged this could be between 3 and 5 pm.
This is only the initial thoughts and everything may change as time goes on. The Bereavement team will do their best to commemorate our departed parishioners who will, of course be always in our thoughts.
