Pentecost will be celebrated on the last weekend of May. Perhaps too often it comes and goes without any opportunity for people to gain a spiritual insight as to what this very special day has to offer us. So, in anticipation let us all refresh ourselves of the fruits of the Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. If between Pentecost and now we each take a moment every day and look over this list of fruits and reflect over our thoughts words and action over the previous 24 hours, the fruits of the Holy Spirit will enable us to examine our conscience and to look towards the day ahead perhaps a little more wiser and more humble.

By the time Pentecost comes we will each know what it is we need to pray for and give thanksgiving for. Celebrating the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives can touch us personally and we become more able to discern what the Holy Spirit calls us to do.

Come Holy Spirit fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in us the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and you shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations. Amen.
