The month of November

The month of November begins with All Saints Day on the first day. It was known in the past as All Hallows and the eve of All Hallows became known as Halloween. So instead of witches and ghosts the original purpose of Halloween was to mark the evening as the eve before celebrating our saints both known and unknown. The Feast of All Saints reminds us of the desire God has for everyone to be blessed by a Divine Destiny a perfect union with God made possible by God’s loving grace and mercy. We know of the famous saints but the 1st November helps us to acknowledge that there are many saints who are unknown and some may have crossed our paths in life inspiring us to turn to God and trust in His grace.

The following day is All Souls Day, a time to remember those who have died, not only those we loved but those who have been strangers and those whom we found difficult in life. We pray for them all.

Prayer – Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, let perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace; may their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
